How taken
Prevacid is a long-acting capsule for oral use. It is normally taken once a day, before a meal. Prevacid is to be taken exactly as described. The capsule must be swallowed whole. If you have problems with swallowing, the capsule may be opened, and the granules can be sprinkled on applesauce and swallowed as soon as possible. Do not chew or crush the granules . Take Prevacid as long as prescribed even in case you feel well. Do not quit using Prevacid before talking to your health care professional.

Lansoprazole is one of those medications named proton pump inhibitors (PPI) which stop the production of acid by the stomach. This drug blocks the enzyme in the wall of the stomach. By blocking it, the production of acid is reduced, and thus lets the stomach and esophagus be cured.
